Murphey's Motel

Stayed here last spring, I was very impressed! ..the staff made me feel right at home. The room was very clean and comfortable...so laid back, it feels homey...I love this place!!!!!

My family and I stayed here because of the location as it close to the Yosemite entrance. What an excellent option! The location was a plus, but the room itself was very clean. Although it did not provide a microwave, it did include a mini fridge. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

I recently spent two winter nights at Murphey's Motel in Lee Vining. Joey the front desk manager was friendly, professional, and helped me arrange an early check-in so I could attend a workshop at the Mono Lake Committee. The rooms are large and clean. The beds have sufficient insulation on them (in contrast to other motels in this class). The heater worked great on the very cold nights. There was a coffee maker in the room but no microwave. There is microwave in a common room in the center of the hotel. The motels website is very easy to use, and informative about seasonal conditions in the town of Lee Vining. The motel offers a AAA discount which I forgot to ask for. :-( The motel is centrally located, so it is easy to walk to the restaurants in town once they open after their winter closing. I gave the room 4 stars for two reasons: 1) other motels in the same class have stayed in on Highway 395 have had microwaves. At 5:00AM in winter, it is more than a little inconvenient to walk through the parking lot in possibly snow/icey conditions to the common microwave.2) the bed was a little soft for my preference, and it was very soft on the side facing the bathroom which makes me think it might be time for a new mattress. That being said, all and all a very good motel. I highly recommend it.

I want to thank Gabriel C for his great service. The motel was fully booked but he managed to promptly get us a room for 3 when there was a last minute booking cancelation. Clean linen and toilet, housekeeping is great, well laid out room design, comfortable beds and best of all a mini fridge that is cold enough. AC was a little noisy though. This is my second stay and it was wonderful. Lee Vining is an exceptional town. We will be back. Thank you.

Gateway to Yosemite. A great place to stay while exploring the many local attractions. Comfortable and clean with exceptional management. When the local electricity provided required an overnight maintenance outage, the management went out of their way to make sure I was kept up on the latest information provided to them and to make sure I had anything I needed. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at this motel. The man who owns it/was at the desk was SUPER friendly and helpful with giving us advice on what and where to see things in the area. His daughter also makes the cutest crocheted animals that they sell at the front. Would definitely recommend!

I’ve been coming here for the last 3 out of 5 years. Each in July and it’s a great time to come up. The weather’s generally very mild, it typically rains at some point and the air is so nice. The Motel is awesome. It’s exactly what I personally need given there’s so much to do outdoors here in the East Sierra. The rooms have always been nice, clean and the family who owns/ runs it is always more than nice. The Mono Cone”s across the street, there’s good food options within a two minute walk at most. Mono lake and Tioga Pass are minutes away. Every time some one asks, I recommend Murphy’s. Never over priced and exactly what you’d expect. Love this place.

We are so happy we found this family-owned motel! The owners are incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and very accommodating. The place was quiet and had everything we needed for a few nights. Highly recommend giving this place your business!
